The en primeur / futures wine market is a firmly established method of selling ultra premium wine in Bordeaux, France.

In 2005 Penfolds for the first time sold two of its very special bottlings from the 2004 vintage by En Primeur. This method offers buyers a chance to purchase parcels of very rare, potentially highly sought after wine before it would normally be released.
