  • In 2004 U.K. wine magazine Decanter names 1962 Penfolds Bin 60A Coonawarra Cabernet Sauvignon Kalimna Shiraz in the number seven position in its "100 Greatest Wines of All Time"
  • The 1998 vintage of Penfolds Bin 407 Cabernet Sauvignon won a gold medal at the Japan Wine Challenge 2001.
  • The 1999 vintage of Koonunga Hill Shiraz Cabernet Sauvignon was named 'Great Value Red Wine of the Year' at the world's largest and most prestigious wine competition, London's International Wine Challenge 2001.
  • Penfolds was named Red Winemaker of the Year at the world's most important wine competition, Britain's International Wine Challenge in 2000. The award is a second for Penfolds, which also won the Red Winemaker of the Year award in 1991.
  • In Italy, Penfolds won the 2000 International Vinitaly Award, which recognises achievement in spreading a quality reputation for the wine industry.
  • Wine Spectator magazine rated Penfolds 1996 Bin 28 Kalimna Shiraz 90/100 in its January 31, 2000 issue.
  • In 1999 the U.S. Wine Spectator magazine names 1955 Grange Hermitage as one of the "Top 12 wines of the 20th Century"
  • 1994 vintage of Penfolds Bin 707 scored a hat-trick at the inaugural 1998 Singapore International Wine Challenge, winning the following three trophies in the international competition: the Wine Institute of Asia Trophy for Best Wine in the Challenge, Best Red Wine and Best Australian Wine.
  • At the 1997 Sydney Wine Show, the 1995 Penfolds Yattarna won trophies for best wine, best white wine, best white wine in premium classes, and most importantly the Tucker-Seabrook Trophy for the best wine exhibited at capital city shows over the previous years.
  • 1993 Penfolds Bin 389 awarded gold medal at 1996 International Wine Challenge in London.
  • Penfolds Bin 28 Kalimna Shiraz has been named Red Wine of the Year twice, in 1991 and 1995 at the world's most important wine competition, Britain's International Wine Challenge.
  • 1991 Penfolds Koonunga Hill Chardonnay was awarded a gold medal at the 1992 International Wine Challenge.
  • In 1989 Penfolds was named Winemaker of the Year by Britain's International Wine and Spirit Competition, after 19 of Penfolds' 22 entries won major awards in that year's competition.
