McLaren Vale

McLaren Vale is located on the Fleurieu Peninsula approximately 45 minutes south of Adelaide. It is one of the most richly varied and stunningly beautiful areas in Australia, tucked into the rolling hills amongst olive groves and forests, and within earshot of the coast. The warm, dry Mediterranean climate, with the cooling breezes from the Gulf of St Vincent set the perfect stage for high quality grape growing.

There is substantial mesoclimatic variation throughout McLaren Vale due to varying exposure to the cooling influence of the nearby ocean. There are also significant changes in altitude as the region merges with the Adelaide Hills and the Mt. Lofty Ranges to the northwest. McLaren Vale is known to produce intensely flavoured, full bodied red wines and similarly powerful whites.

McLaren Vale has also established itself as a epicurean hotspot in South Australia. Local gourmands have helped to develop a thriving business in olive and olive oil production, as well as superb cheeses, tapenades, breads and other baked goods.
